Tartan Plaid Bedroom Décor Inspirations - Just a Girl Blog

Maybe the only thing I adore more than plaid is tartan plaid. There’s just an allure to it in festive Christmas hues that has me giddy about it during the holiday season. Giddy like a girl at a Harry Styles concert. Or like a girl eyeing a box of doughnuts–both of which I have experienced.

I’m collaborating with some exceptionally talented blogging friends to showcase our holiday spaces this week. Don’t believe it? Take a look at this lineup! If you’re stopping by from Shand at Quarters One, welcome! I’m thrilled to have you!

Tartan Plaid Bedroom

I don’t do much decorating in our bedrooms now that my kids have grown (translation: they’re not interested anymore), so it was a great time to freshen up my son’s space/guestroom. Something else I seldom do? Use red in my decor! THIS was a blast.

I’ve realized I enjoy decorating, but I’m not a huge fan of the prop styling that accompanies modern blogging. I promised myself to utilize items I already own and keep it authentic. Does that resonate?

I didn’t adjust the pillows AT ALL until my dog made a leap into them during the shoot. He was quickly ushered out as I removed dog hair from the navy blanket. Goodness gracious.

White tartan pillows

Speaking of pillows! Wowza!! Can I get an amen? They’re the main attraction. Even better is that I discovered the tartan pillows on Amazon, and they were incredibly affordable! I saved so much dough! But then I purchased several more because they were priced so well. So I didn’t save that much after all! Oops.

Red tartan pillows

I just adore how a daybed adorned with an array of somewhat chaotic pillows looks. There’s something about it that says, “Come lie down. Skip the chores. It’s all good, trust me.” It’s a very inviting daybed.

For a bit of honesty (oxymoron alert, Chris)? When my son departed for Europe, I completely revamped his room and tore out the carpet. I haven’t replaced it yet. The image below shows the subfloor beneath the bed! I believe it’s about time bloggers reveal the unglamorous realities, right? Just me? 🙂

Whatever. It is what it is. But it does make me laugh (and weep) at how misleading images can be.

I recognize it’s a multitude of images, yet it’s genuinely one of my favorites. Tartan plaid will always have my heart. And so does Harry Styles. And Harry Styles IN tartan plaid.

Christmas Bedrooms

If you’re craving some additional Christmas bedroom inspiration (let’s pretend you are), here are a few I’ve previously curated!

**Tartan Plaid Bedroom Design Inspirations: A Cozy and Timeless Style**
*By Just a Girl Blog*

When it comes to crafting a warm, welcoming, and stylish sleeping area, few patterns evoke the same level of comfort and charm as tartan plaid. This classic motif, with its rich background and adaptable appeal, has been a favorite in home styling for ages. Whether you’re aiming to create a rustic sanctuary, a snug cabin feel, or a modern interpretation of a traditional aesthetic, tartan plaid presents limitless options. In this article, we’ll delve into an array of tartan plaid bedroom design inspirations that will assist you in transforming your space into a cozy retreat.

### 1. **Classic Red and Green Tartan for a Conventional Feel**
One of the most recognizable tartan designs is the red and green blend, often linked to Scottish tradition and the festive season. This enduring color combination can infuse warmth and a sense of nostalgia into your bedroom.

**Design Tip:**
Integrate red and green tartan plaid bedding as the centerpiece of the room. Pair it with neutral-colored walls, such as cream or light beige, to allow the pattern to stand out. Add rustic touches like wooden furnishings, plaid throw pillows, and a cozy wool blanket to complete the ambiance. This design is perfect for those who appreciate a traditional, homely vibe.

### 2. **Subtle Tartan for an Understated, Elegant Atmosphere**
If vibrant hues aren’t quite your aesthetic, think about utilizing a more subdued tartan design in shades of gray, navy, or soft browns. These colors can foster a serene and sophisticated environment, ideal for a bedroom.

**Design Tip:**
Select a plaid duvet cover or throw in a muted color range and combine it with solid-hued sheets and pillowcases. To maintain harmony, choose furniture and accessories in complementary neutral shades, like dark wood or matte black. A few hints of metallic accents, such as brass or gold, can impart a sprinkle of elegance to the space.

### 3. **Combine Different Plaid Patterns**
For a more eclectic and fun approach, consider blending various plaid patterns within your bedroom. This can introduce depth and visual intrigue without overwhelming the design.

**Design Tip:**
Begin by selecting a primary tartan pattern for your bedding or curtains and then layer smaller plaid elements, such as throw pillows, blankets, or even a plaid-upholstered chair. When combining patterns, ensure they stick to a united color scheme to avoid any visual discord. For instance, if your main tartan features shades of blue and white, opt for compatible patterns in similar tones for a balanced appearance.

### 4. **Tartan Accents for a Touch of Charm**
If you’re fond of the tartan aesthetic but lean towards a minimalist style, think about making subtle plaid additions rather than turning it into the room’s focal point.

**Design Tip:**
Place a tartan throw blanket at the foot of the bed or drape it over a chair for a cozy accent. You can also incorporate plaid through decorative cushions, lampshades, or even framed tartan fabric as wall decor. This method allows you to relish the charm of tartan without committing entirely to a plaid-centric look.

### 5. **Tartan Drapes for a Striking Focus**
For those looking to create a significant impact with tartan, consider utilizing plaid curtains as a centerpiece in the bedroom. Tartan drapes can introduce a dramatic and cozy warmth to the area, especially when matched with complementary bedding and decor.

**Design Tip:**
Select curtains with a rich tartan pattern that complements the room’s overall palette. If your walls are neutral, choose a bold tartan featuring deep reds, greens, or blues. To balance the appearance, keep the rest of the décor simple, opting for solid-colored bedding and minimal accessories.

### 6. **Tartan-Themed Wall Features**
For the ultimate tartan enthusiast, why not extend the pattern to the walls? Tartan wallpaper or a plaid feature wall can create a striking and distinctive bedroom design.

**Design Tip:**
If you’re apprehensive about covering an entire room in plaid, think about crafting an accent wall behind the bed. Opt for a tartan wallpaper in colors that harmonize with your bedding and furniture. To maintain balance, choose solid-colored bedding and uncomplicated decor. If wallpaper seems too final, you can achieve a similar result with tartan wall art or fabric panels.

### 7. **Tartan Plaid in a Contemporary Context**
Though tartan is typically associated with traditional or rustic decor, it can also complement a modern bedroom beautifully. The key is to juxtapose the classic pattern with sleek, contemporary elements.

**Design Tip:**
Pick a tartan style in a monochromatic color scheme, such as black and white or gray and navy. Pair it with modern furnishings that feature simple lines and minimalist designs. Incorporate metallic accents, such
