This season was thrilling for Tabs. Guests arriving, trees set up INSIDE the home, twinkling lights, the largest turkeys of the year — for a cat like Tabs, the holidays were a feline feast of plush sofas, aromatic greenery, shimmering tinsel, delicious snacks, and ample feathers.
As the head of the festive decoration team for Tabs the Cat Industries, LLC, Tabs took charge of the Christmas tree adornments, and I pretty much went along with his instructions.
Typically, it unfolded like this: first week of December, and he hadn’t yet chosen an overarching theme, but he’d usually whittle it down to something like baked red, green, and silver catnip crispy ornament snacks or strings of classic white lights coupled with red Christmas baubles.
Most likely. But he wouldn’t be entirely certain just yet.
No matter the choice, he always received a great deal of assistance. The decoration committee was perpetually on standby, ready for directives.
And Tabs? Well, he was often delayed due to various reasons. Most of the time it was simply because his morning rounds took longer than expected. Those were generally uneventful, save for the occasional cat that would attempt to snatch one of the decorative catnip plants near the main entrance of the company.
But nine times out of ten, Tabs would give them a penetrating look, and they’d retreat.
