Tartan Pattern-Inspired Bedroom Decoration

Tartan Pattern-Inspired Bedroom Decoration

Maybe the only thing I prefer over plaid is tartan plaid. There’s an allure to it in traditional Christmas hues that makes me giddy during the festive season. Giddy like a girl at a Harry Styles concert. Or like someone gazing at a box of doughnuts—both of which I have experienced.

I’m collaborating with some incredibly talented blogging friends to showcase our holiday spaces this week. Don’t take my word for it? Just check out this lineup! If you’re visiting from Shand at Quarters One, I’m thrilled to have you here!

Tartan Plaid Bedroom

I don’t do a lot of decorating in my kids’ bedrooms anymore (they’re older now and not as interested), so it was the ideal time to refresh my son’s room/guest space. Another thing I seldom do? Use red in my decor! THIS was quite enjoyable.

I’ve come to understand that I enjoy decorating, but I’m not particularly fond of the prop styling that accompanies modern blogging. I vowed to incorporate items I already own and avoid creating an artificial look. Does that resonate with anyone?

I didn’t fluff the pillows at ALL until my dog decided to leap into them during the photo shoot. He was swiftly ushered out as I removed dog hair from the navy blanket. Goodness gracious.

White tartan pillows

And speaking of pillows! Wow!! Am I right? They truly shine in this setup. What’s even better is that I stumbled upon the tartan pillows on Amazon, and they were incredibly affordable! I saved a ton! But then I ended up buying more because the prices were so good. So I didn’t save that much after all! Whoops.

Red tartan pillows

I adore the appearance of a daybed adorned with a multitude of slightly disheveled pillows. Something about it beckons, “Come rest here. Forget about everything else. Seriously.” It’s a very inviting daybed.

For full disclosure (somewhat contradictory, huh, Chris)? When my son headed off to Europe, I emptied his room and removed the carpet. I haven’t replaced it yet. The image below reveals the subfloor beneath the bed! I believe it’s time for bloggers to start showcasing the less glamorous realities, right? Just me? 🙂

Whatever. It is what it is. But it does make me chuckle (and cry) at how misleading photos can be.

I realize this is a lot of photos, but this is truly one of my favorites. Tartan plaid will always have my heart. As will Harry Styles. Especially Harry Styles IN tartan plaid.

# **Tartan Plaid-Themed Bedroom Decor: A Classic and Cozy Choice**

Tartan plaid is an enduring pattern that has long been linked to warmth, tradition, and elegance. With its roots in Scotland, tartan plaid has transitioned into fashion, interior design, and even contemporary decor trends. If your goal is to craft a cozy, stylish, and inviting bedroom, tartan plaid-themed decor may just be the ideal option.

This article will delve into methods for integrating tartan plaid into your bedroom design, covering everything from bedding and furnishings to accessories and color palettes.

## **Why Opt for Tartan Plaid in Your Bedroom?**
Tartan plaid is a flexible pattern that can seamlessly blend with various interior design aesthetics, ranging from rustic to modern. Here are some reasons why tartan plaid is a fantastic choice for bedroom decor:

– **Evergreen Charm:** Tartan plaid has remained fashionable for centuries, consistently appealing in both clothing and home decor.
– **Comforting Atmosphere:** The deep hues and complex patterns of tartan plaid foster a warm and inviting environment.
– **Adaptable and Chic:** Whether you gravitate towards a bold red and black plaid or a more muted neutral tartan, numerous choices exist to suit your taste.
– **Suitable for Every Season:** Although often related to fall and winter, lighter plaid designs can be quite fitting for spring and summer as well.

## **How to Integrate Tartan Plaid Into Your Bedroom Decor**
There are countless ways to infuse tartan plaid into your bedroom without overwhelming the area. Here are some essential components to keep in mind:

### **1. Tartan Bedding**
A simple way to bring tartan plaid into your bedroom is through your bedding. A plaid comforter, duvet cover, or quilt can dramatically change the room’s ambiance. Opt for classic red and green tartan for a timeless vibe, or choose neutral shades like gray, beige, or navy for a modern flair.

**Tip:** Layer your tartan bedding with solid hues for sheets and pillowcases to balance the pattern’s prominence and keep the decor from feeling chaotic.

### **2. Plaid Throw Blankets and Pillows**
For those wanting a subtler touch, adding plaid throw blankets and decorative pillows to your bed or seating areas can make a difference. These accessories not only offer comfort but also allow for color and pattern exploration.

**Tip:** Combine various plaid designs with solid pillows to achieve a warm yet stylish aesthetic.

### **3. Tartan Curtains and Window Dressings**
Tartan plaid drapes can bring a sense of richness and warmth to your bedroom. Opt for heavier materials such as wool or flannel for a snug winter feel or lighter cotton plaid curtains for a refreshing summer appearance.

**Tip:** If full plaid curtains seem too bold, consider using plaid valances or tiebacks for a more understated nod to the pattern.

### **4. Tartan Area Rugs**
A plaid area rug can serve as an anchor for the room while harmonizing the decor. Whether you choose a larger tartan rug or a smaller accent piece, it can infuse warmth and texture into your bedroom.

**Tip:** Pair a tartan rug with solid furniture to maintain visual harmony in the space.

### **5. Tartan-inspired Furnishings and Upholstery**
For a dramatic touch, think about incorporating plaid-upholstered pieces, like accent chairs, ottomans, or benches. This can add sophistication and comfort to your bedroom without overwhelming it.

**Tip:** If you’re hesitant to commit to plaid furniture, consider using slipcovers or cushions made from plaid fabric to achieve a similar aesthetic.

### **6. Wall Decorations and Artwork**
Tartan plaid can also be integrated into wall decor. Think about framed bits of plaid fabric, tartan wallpaper, or plaid-themed art pieces to enhance the overall theme.

**Tip:** If you prefer a minimalist approach, consider featuring plaid as an accent wall instead of covering the entire room in it.

### **7. Accessories and Decorative Touches**
Small elements can significantly impact a tartan plaid-themed bedroom. Consider adding plaid lampshades, picture frames, or decorative trays to complement the decor.

**Tip:** Balance plaid with other textures like wood, leather, or metal for a visually engaging space.

## **Selecting the Right Color Palette**
With various colors available in tartan plaid, it’s crucial to select the right scheme for your bedroom. Here are some popular combinations:

– **Traditional Red and Black:** A classic choice that brings warmth and a rustic ambiance.
– **Green and Navy:** A sophisticated pairing that fits beautifully in various design settings.
– **Gray and White:** A neutral yet contemporary selection that promotes a calm and elegant setting.
– **Beige and Brown:** An earthy palette that nurtures a warm and welcoming feel.

**Tip:** When choosing
