Perhaps nothing captivates me more than tartan plaid, especially in classic Christmas hues that make me swoon during the festive season. Swooning like a fan at a Harry Styles concert or like someone eyeing a box of delicious doughnuts—both experiences I can relate to.
This week, I’m teaming up with some incredibly talented blog friends to showcase our holiday spaces. Don’t believe me? Check out this stellar lineup! If you’re dropping by from Shand at Quarters One, welcome! I’m thrilled you’re here!
Tartan Plaid Bedroom
With my kids now older and less interested in bedroom decor, it was the ideal chance to jazz up my son’s room/guestroom. Another thing I rarely do? Use red decor! THIS was an enjoyable project.
I’ve discovered my love for decorating, but I don’t have the same enthusiasm for prop styling that modern blogging often requires. I promised myself I’d use items I already own and keep it feeling genuine. Does that resonate?
I didn’t adjust the pillows AT ALL until my dog leaped onto them right in the middle of the photoshoot. He was swiftly shown to the door while I removed his fur from the navy blanket. Oh, the chaos!
Speaking of pillows! Wow!! They are truly the highlight of the room. Even better, I found the tartan pillows on Amazon at such a low price! I saved a chunk of change! However, I ended up buying more because they were so affordable. So I didn’t end up saving as much as I thought! Oops.
I adore the appearance of a daybed adorned with a mix of slightly disheveled pillows. It exudes an invitation that says, “Come relax. Forget about everything else. Seriously.” It’s quite the conversational piece.
Here’s a little tidbit of truth (ironic, right, Chris)? When my son headed off to Europe, I completely cleared out his room and took out the carpet. I haven’t replaced it yet. The image below shows the subfloor under the bed! I really think it’s time bloggers started revealing the less glamorous aspects, don’t you? Or is it just me? 🙂
Anyway, it is what it is. But it definitely makes me laugh (and maybe cry) at how misleading photos can be.
<p.I know there are numerous pictures, but this is genuinely one of my favorites. Tartan plaid has a special place in my heart. Just like Harry Styles. And Harry Styles wearing tartan plaid.
