I’m not sure what’s going on there (torture, perhaps?), but I’ve figured out a way to fix it: yogurt bark.

The rule in my household is simple: you aren’t required to finish your plate, and you don’t need to eat anything you don’t like. This isn’t because I’m the most lenient parent ever. It stems from my own past experiences with eating rules and restrictions, which ultimately led me to embrace intuitive eating — a practice that transformed my life. But what am I supposed to do with all this fruit? One day I opened Instagram, and, almost miraculously, the solution surfaced:

I’ve been creating yogurt bark for over a year now — at least twice weekly — and it’s been beneficial for everyone. It takes roughly 60 seconds, and it has prevented me from mountains of food waste. All you require is a piece of parchment paper, a scoop of yogurt, and the fruit your child left mashed on their breakfast plate. Here’s how to whip it up in five simple steps…

1. Chop your leftover fruit.

2. Spread yogurt on the parchment paper. (I’ve found that thick Greek yogurt yields the best results, especially with chunkier fruit pieces. But any yogurt will work to create bark.)

3-4. Place fruit chunks on the yogurt.
