I recently picked up a few lip products from Chanel and I am absolutely excited about my choices! They have brought back some shades in the Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue and Rouge Coco Flash formulas (both fantastic hues). Chanel has also introduced new colors for the 31 Le Rouge in satin and matte finishes, and I indulged in two of the fresh options. I’ve shared a demo here if you wish to see everything in action.
31 Le Rouge
The Chanel 31 Le Rouge ($195) remains one of the finest lipstick formulas I’ve experienced. It ranks among the priciest lipsticks available but meets all my expectations. It’s a traditional formula that is incredibly creamy, smooth in application, bold in color (except for the shimmers), and absolutely ideal for me. There are six new shades: 3 satin and 3 matte. I bought 7 Rouge Brode (satin) and 17 Rouge Confident (matte) and adore both. I discovered I also had two previously launched mattes, 13 Rouge Jersey and 14 Rouge Intimiste, tucked away in a storage box that I hadn’t reviewed yet. They are included in my roundup today.
7 Rouge Brode (satin) is a sparkling light pink. It leans on the sheerer side, similar in finish to 1 Rouge Beige (my favorite). The sparkles are multi-colored when examined closely. I think it’s absolutely beautiful and reminds me of some of the legendary Glossimer shades that were discontinued long ago (like Seashell).

17 Rouge Confident (matte) is an extremely light beige matte. I was concerned it might be too light for my complexion, but due to its warm undertone, I decided to try it. In-store, I refrain from trying testers on my lips or face, but I still swatch on my hand. It was a costly gamble, but I’m thrilled with it! Most shades this light are either too cool-toned or pastel – but this one is just right for me.

The other two mattes are deeper and perfect for fall. Both provide full coverage with a classic matte finish. Being matte, they cling a bit more to the lips and tug slightly during application, but it’s not a major drawback. I appreciate that they don’t appear or feel dry. I find 14 Rouge Intimiste to be a lovely mauve pink-brown shade that’s not overly dark or brown, but it’s likely the easiest shade to dupe.

13 Rouge Jersey is yet another gorgeous neutral. It pulls quite warm, which I tend to prefer for warmer nudes on my darker pigmented lips.
Many of you have inquired whether these are “worth” the price and I doubt anyone can genuinely claim a $195 lipstick is “worth it.” I’m still unsure if even a $50+ lipstick can truly be deemed worth it. However, I am completely satisfied with my buys and have no regrets.
Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue
The Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue ($50) is the finest long-wear liquid lipstick I’ve tested. Once it sets, it’s essentially smudge-proof. They have re-released 174 Endless Pink, a warm pink shade, which I happily repurchased as soon as I saw it available. I consider it an excellent everyday coral pink, yet it still appears neutral on me. If you’re in search of a true neutral, 186 Pink Nude remains the top option.
These liquid lipsticks feature a dual-sided design, one side has the color, while the other includes a glossy topper, and I believe it’s essential to apply the top coat; otherwise, the liquid lipstick can feel somewhat thick or tacky.
Rouge Coco Flash – Bisous
Chanel has also launched the Rouge Coco Flash in Bisous separately. This shade was previously exclusive to the Nature Getaway Set last year, and I think it’s one of the most beautiful coral pink shades I’ve ever encountered. It’s sheer but can be built up if brushed on. The formula is smooth, hydrating, and glossy. It’s essentially my preferred formula for lips.
