Summer Fridays has introduced several new makeup products, including lip pencils! They debuted a SoftLine Lip Liner Long-Lasting Lip Pencil ($20 each) and Flushed Lip Stain ($22). I received the entire set for testing and review, and as someone who has difficulty with lip liners showing on my pigmented lips, I am absolutely thrilled with this launch!
SoftLine Lip Liner Long-Lasting Lip Pencil

The highlight for me is definitely the SoftLine Lip Liner Long-Lasting Lip Pencil. It comes in 8 shades, and what I appreciate about these is that they’re truly like a classic lip liner pencil. The staying power is impressive, but I like that they aren’t like the gel formulas that are completely smudge-resistant because those often appear dry on my lips as the day progresses. A more traditional pencil like this one is kinder to my lips, especially when they are parched.
The formula is smooth, though they don’t glide on as effortlessly as those from Merit (which are more glossy). I adore the pigmentation; even the lighter shades are visible on my pigmented lips with excellent coverage. I love the variety of shades in this line. I believe every color is flattering!
I swatched these all over my lips for shade reference, although typically I would just line the outer edges and then select a matching gloss or lipstick to pair with.
Flushed Lip Stain
The Flushed Lip Stains are stunning, and the pigmentation is exceptionally good. Personally, I am not a fan of stains because there’s something about my lips that causes liquid lipsticks and stains to darken to an unrecognizable shade. What I see on my lips rarely matches a swatch or what I see in the applicator.
The product is outstanding, and the longevity is definitely there. I attempted to remove the swatches from my arm, and the stain persisted even with a bi-phase makeup remover. I wasn’t able to lip swatch all of them because the stain adhered so strongly to my lips that I felt swatching more would blend the colors.
Overall, I love them. I think the combinations with the Lip Butter Balms are also enjoyable. I haven’t extensively experimented with layering different shades together, but I find the colors they’ve created to be stunning.
