It’s always been a struggle for my taste buds after a grueling week in a foreign nation, scrambling to the airport early in the morning or late at night, yearning for just a great cup of “specialty” coffee – not just any coffee, but specialty.
So, late last year, following my talk at an international conference on land degradation in Riyadh and steering clear of hotel coffee, I realized I was dropped off at the new Terminal 4 at King Khalid airport. I dashed over as quickly as I could to get my specialty coffee fix, which I was in dire need of after an early morning (my flight was at 9am, so I checked out of the hotel before 7am).

I couldn’t help but grab some Kenyan arabica beans, which I have been brewing using my Hario V60 lately, and it’s delightful. I should mention that if you purchase a bag of coffee beans, they will provide you with a complimentary cup of black coffee (not a milk-based – I asked, and they said no).
There’s a small seating area that fills up quickly.
