A Young Woman’s Journey in Berlin

A Young Woman's Journey in Berlin

I have to confess. I was quite uninformed about Berlin, Germany. I imagined the Cold War and thought it wouldn’t be a place I’d enjoy. How wrong I was! So wrong, in fact, that I wished we could have spent additional time there.

I adore visiting a place that is not only stunning but also offers a historical experience that I didn’t know I craved. Our one-day trip was absolutely perfect. The weather was ideal, allowing us to stroll through the city and uncover all its treasures.

My husband and I experienced numerous “oh wow!” moments. We took a tour to observe the stark contrast between West and East Berlin—still evident after all these years.

The spectral line of the Berlin wall slices through the entire city. We were struck by awe as we traversed freely from one side to the other, reflecting on how many lives were lost for the same freedom decades ago.

We also visited the site of the book burning at Bebelplatz. The memorial features an underground library at the location, which was incredibly fascinating to witness.

The bear has become a mascot of Berlin, and we delighted in spotting various representations of him around the city.

This Holocaust Memorial was among the most profound I’ve ever experienced. Once more, we explored on our own, just absorbing everything around us.

I had a moment of excitement when we realized the Ante Nationalgalerie was showcasing an Impressionist art exhibit. This is my preferred art style, and I was thrilled it was displayed while we were visiting!

Just to illustrate? This is me showing my enthusiasm. It was awe-inspiring to observe their brushwork! Their signatures! Ugh. Love you, Claude.

There’s SO MUCH more I could reveal about Berlin, but please understand that I was not overly enthusiastic about visiting…and then I was utterly proven WRONG. It was both beautiful AND historical. I highly endorse it!
