Maybe the only thing I appreciate more than plaid is tartan plaid. It has a charm in classic Christmas tones that makes me swoon over it during the festive season. Swooning like a girl at a Harry Styles concert. Or a girl eyeing a box of doughnuts–both experiences I can relate to.
I’m teaming up with some incredibly talented blogging friends to showcase our holiday spaces this week. Don’t believe me? Check out this amazing lineup! If you’re coming from Shand at Quarters One, welcome! I’m thrilled you’re here!
Tartan Plaid Bedroom
I don’t do much decorating in our bedrooms now that my kids are older (read: they don’t care), so it was the ideal chance to refresh my son’s room/guest area. Something else I rarely do? Use red decor! THIS was a fun one.
I’ve come to understand that I enjoy decorating, but I’m not particularly fond of the prop styling that comes with contemporary blogging. I made a vow to utilize what I already own and keep it authentic. Makes sense, right?
I barely arranged the pillows at all until my dog dove into them right in the middle of the shoot. He was promptly escorted out of the room while I picked dog hair off the navy blanket. Lord help me.
Speaking of pillows! Va-va-voom!! Am I right? They steal the spotlight. Even better, I found the tartan pillows on Amazon, and they were super affordable! I saved a ton! But then I ended up buying more of them because they were such a good deal. So I didn’t save so much after all! Oops.
I absolutely adore the look of a daybed filled with a bunch of casually arranged pillows. There’s something about it that whispers, “Come lay down. Don’t worry about anything. Seriously.” It’s a very inviting daybed.
Want some full honesty (is that an oxymoron, Chris)? When my son left for Europe, I cleared out his room and tore up the carpet. I haven’t replaced it yet. The picture below will show the subfloor beneath the bed! I think it’s about time bloggers start revealing the less glamorous truths, right? Just me? 🙂
Whatever. It is what it is. But it makes me laugh (and cry) at how misleading photos can be.
I realize it’s a lot of pictures, but this one truly is one of my favorites. Tartan plaid has my heart forever. And so does Harry Styles. And Harry Styles IN tartan plaid.

**Title: Revitalize Your Bedroom with a Tartan Plaid Concept**
When it comes to bedroom styling, the tartan plaid concept presents a classic and cozy look that can turn any area into a warm and welcoming haven. Recognized for its rich background and ties to Scottish culture, tartan plaid imparts a sense of tradition and sophistication to interior spaces. Here’s a guide on how you can weave this timeless pattern into your bedroom decor.
**1. Selecting the Perfect Tartan Plaid:**
Tartan plaid is available in a myriad of colors and designs, each bearing its own distinct history and meaning. When picking a tartan for your bedroom, think about the color scheme that aligns with your personal taste and the current decor. Traditional red and green tartans are ideal for a classic ambiance, while blue or muted tones can establish a more contemporary and understated vibe.
**2. Bedding and Fabrics:**
The simplest way to integrate tartan plaid into your bedroom is through fabrics. Choose a tartan plaid duvet cover or comforter as the centerpiece of your bed. Balance it with solid-colored sheets and pillowcases to keep the look from becoming too busy. Consider adding tartan plaid throw blankets or accent cushions to amplify the theme and offer additional layers of coziness.
**3. Draperies and Window Coverings:**
Tartan plaid curtains can impart a sense of elegance and warmth to your bedroom. Opt for a material that complements your bedding for a unified appearance. If full-length curtains seem too bold, consider tartan plaid valances or tiebacks for a more subtle take.
**4. Rugs and Flooring:**
A tartan plaid area rug can ground the space and harmonize various design elements in your room. Whether you select a large rug for beneath the bed or smaller accent rugs, the pattern will add depth and visual interest to your flooring. Pairing the rug with hardwood or neutral carpets can enhance the overall look.
**5. Furnishings and Accessories:**
Incorporate tartan plaid into your furnishings and accessories for a seamless theme. Upholstered chairs or poufs in tartan plaid can act as focal points. Also, consider tartan plaid lampshades, photo frames, or even a tartan-covered headboard for understated yet striking details.
**6. Walls and Paint:**
Although tartan plaid wallpaper can make a bold statement, it may be overwhelming when used excessively. Instead, think about an accent wall adorned with tartan plaid wallpaper or employ it sparingly, like inside a closet or on the backing of a bookshelf. For paint, select colors that complement the tartan design, such as deep greens, vibrant reds, or soft neutrals.
**7. Seasonal Ornamentation:**
Tartan plaid is especially favored during the fall and winter months as it evokes feelings of warmth and comfort. Include seasonal decorations like plaid wreaths, garlands, or holiday-themed tartan details to welcome in the changing seasons.
**Conclusion:**
A tartan plaid concept can infuse your bedroom decor with a sense of heritage and warmth. By carefully weaving in tartan fabrics, accessories, and matching colors, you can craft a space that is both chic and welcoming. Whether completely embracing the pattern or adding subtle elements, tartan plaid offers an adaptable and enduring design choice for any bedroom.
