I recently acquired a selection of lip products from Chanel, and I couldn’t be more excited about my choices! They brought back a few shades in the Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue and Rouge Coco Flash formulas (both excellent tones). Chanel also unveiled new colors for the 31 Le Rouge in both satin and matte finishes, and I indulged in two of the new additions. I included a demonstration here in case you’d like to see them in action.
31 Le Rouge
The Chanel 31 Le Rouge ($195) remains one of the finest lipstick formulas I’ve encountered. It ranks among the priciest lipsticks available, but it embodies all I desire in a lipstick. It’s a traditional formula that is incredibly creamy, smooth in application, bold in pigmentation (excluding the shimmers), and honestly perfect for me. There are six new shades: 3 satin and 3 matte. I selected 7 Rouge Brode (satin) and 17 Rouge Confident (matte), and I adore them both. I also found two of the previously released mattes in 13 Rouge Jersey and 14 Rouge Intimiste in a storage box that I hadn’t yet reviewed, so I’ve included them in my roundup today.
7 Rouge Brode (satin) is a shimmering light pink. It leans towards the sheer side, with a finish similar to 1 Rouge Beige (my favorite). The sparkles are multi-colored if you scrutinize closely. I think it’s absolutely stunning. It reminds me of some classic Glossimer shades that have long been discontinued (like Seashell).

17 Rouge Confident (matte) is an ultra-pale beige matte. I feared it might be too light for me, but with its warm undertone, I decided to give it a shot. I still do not test shades on my lips or face in-store but I do swatch on my hand. It was a pricey gamble but I’m thrilled with it! Most shades this light are typically too cool-toned or pastel—this one is just right for me.

The other two mattes are deeper and stunning for fall. Both provide full coverage with a traditional matte finish. Being matte, they stick a bit more to the lips and can tug slightly upon application, but it’s not a deal breaker. I appreciate that they neither look nor feel dry. I think 14 Rouge Intimiste is a lovely mauve pink-brown that isn’t overly dark or brown, but I suspect this shade might be the easiest to find a dupe for.

13 Rouge Jersey is another gorgeous neutral. It has a warm pull, but I generally prefer warmer nudes for my dark pigmented lips.
Many of you have asked if these are “worth” the price, and I’m not sure that anyone can definitively say a $195 lipstick is “worth it.” I’m also unsure if I can say a lipstick over $50 is genuinely worth it. Nevertheless, I am completely satisfied with my purchases and have no regrets.
Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue
The Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue ($50) stands out as the best long-wearing liquid lipstick I’ve tried. Once it sets, it’s virtually budge-proof. They reintroduced 174 Endless Pink, which is a warm pink shade, so I repurchased it the moment I saw it available again. I think it’s a fantastic everyday coral pink that still reads as neutral on me. If you’re in search of a true neutral, 186 Pink Nude remains the best option.
These liquid lipsticks feature dual ends; one side contains the color, while the other has a glossy topcoat. I believe you absolutely need to apply the topcoat; otherwise, the liquid lipstick can feel a bit thick or tacky.
Rouge Coco Flash – Bisous
Chanel also recently launched Rouge Coco Flash in Bisous as a standalone product. This was previously exclusive to the Nature Getaway Set from last year, and I believe it is one of the most beautiful coral pink shades I’ve encountered. It’s sheer but can be built up if applied with a brush. The formula is smooth, hydrating, and glossy—truly my preferred choice for lips.
