Christmas Excursion of 2020

Christmas Excursion of 2020

This is how I envision my blogging experience. I intend to adorn my home, and then I hope someone else can handle all the photography and editing. Is that too much to wish for? 🙂 I absolutely adore decorating for the holiday season, and I cherish that warm ambiance, you know? Sooo I just had to share.

Step into my black and green festive workspace—also known as my new classroom. Believe me when I say it doesn’t typically appear this way. This office desk alongside the leather chair creates a fantastic pairing for the darker bookshelves.

I kept the color scheme quite simple this year (surprise). Those shades bring me the most happiness, and I suppose that’s the purpose, right? I discovered the garland at a consignment shop for $12 a few years back. I added some ribbon to it, and it finalizes the look!

I’m dubbing this the year of candles. Apparently, they’ve become my favorite this season? This console table is a joy to style since it instantly alters the room’s appearance!

This is my outlook from the kitchen. While I’m whipping up cookies, of course. Ha! I often receive inquiries about this mirror (similar) and my rug! I adore both of them!

Since I’ve spent more time at home (thanks to virtual teaching—yay), I had some extra moments to set up another holiday tree. I placed this flocked tree in my bedroom, and I might never take it down! (Just kidding.)

The ornaments were all discounted from Kirkland’s last year, and the tree was acquired from At Home. I love the combination of colors!

I’m quite sure it’s my favorite tree of all time…and only my husband and I see it. Go figure. 😉 I do have a couple more areas to showcase, but these are our main spots. I hope you enjoyed the tour! If you’d like to explore more beautiful spaces, pleeeease check out my friends’ homes too!

**Christmas Tour of 2020: A Unique Holiday Experience**

The Christmas Tour of 2020 was unlike any other, marked by the global challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the restrictions and health concerns, the spirit of Christmas found new ways to shine, adapting to the circumstances with creativity and resilience.

**Virtual Celebrations and Tours**

With travel restrictions in place, many traditional Christmas tours and events were canceled or significantly altered. However, technology played a crucial role in keeping the festive spirit alive. Virtual tours of famous Christmas markets, such as those in Germany and Austria, allowed people to experience the holiday magic from the comfort of their homes. Online platforms hosted virtual visits to iconic locations like the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree in New York City and the enchanting Christmas lights of London.

**Drive-Thru Light Displays**

In response to social distancing guidelines, drive-thru Christmas light displays gained popularity. Families could enjoy the dazzling lights and festive decorations from the safety of their vehicles. These displays, often synchronized with holiday music, provided a safe and memorable experience for all ages. Cities across the United States, including Atlanta, Los Angeles, and Chicago, offered these drive-thru experiences, bringing joy to communities.

**Local and Small-Scale Events**

Local communities adapted by organizing smaller, socially-distanced events. Outdoor Christmas markets with limited capacity, mask mandates, and hand sanitizing stations allowed people to shop for holiday gifts while supporting local artisans. In some areas, neighborhoods organized socially-distanced caroling and outdoor concerts, bringing music and cheer to residents.

**Home-Centric Celebrations**

With many people staying home, there was a renewed focus on home-centric celebrations. Families embraced the opportunity to create new traditions, such as baking Christmas cookies, crafting homemade decorations, and hosting virtual gatherings with loved ones. The pandemic encouraged a return to simpler, more intimate holiday celebrations, emphasizing the importance of family and togetherness.

**Charitable Giving and Community Support**

The challenges of 2020 also highlighted the importance of charitable giving and community support. Many individuals and organizations stepped up to help those in need, organizing food drives, toy donations, and virtual fundraising events. The spirit of giving and compassion became a central theme of the holiday season, reminding everyone of the true meaning of Christmas.

**Conclusion**

The Christmas Tour of 2020 was a testament to human adaptability and the enduring spirit of the holiday season. While it may have looked different from previous years, the essence of Christmas—joy, love, and generosity—remained unchanged. The experiences of 2020 have left a lasting impact, inspiring new traditions and a deeper appreciation for the simple joys of the holiday season.
