Possibly the only print that I adore more than plaid is tartan plaid. There’s just something about it in traditional Christmas hues that makes me absolutely love it during the festive season. Loving it like a girl at a Harry Styles concert. Or like a girl eyeing a box of doughnuts–both of which I have experienced.

Tartan Plaid Bedroom
I don’t really decorate much in our bedrooms now that my kids are older (read: they’re not interested anymore), so it felt like the ideal time to refresh my son’s room/guest room. Another thing I rarely do? Incorporate red into the decor! THIS was an exciting challenge.
I’ve come to understand that I enjoy decorating, but I’m not particularly fond of the prop styling associated with modern blogging. I made a promise to myself to utilize what I already own and not make it too staged. Does that sound reasonable?
I didn’t fluff the pillows at ALL until my dog leapt into them during the shoot. He was swiftly ushered out of the room as I picked dog hair off the navy blanket. Oh boy.
Speaking of pillows! Wowza!! Am I right? They truly steal the show. Even better, I found the tartan pillows on Amazon for such a low price! I saved a ton of cash! But then I ended up ordering more because they were so reasonably priced. So I didn’t save as much as I thought! Oops.
I absolutely adore the appearance of a daybed adorned with plenty of slightly disheveled pillows. There’s something about it that exudes, “Come rest here. Don’t worry about a thing. It’s all good. I assure you.” It’s a welcoming daybed.
Want a bit of full honesty (oxymoron alert, Chris)? When my son took off for Europe, I completely overhauled his room and removed the carpet. I haven’t replaced it yet. The snapshot below displays the subfloor beneath the bed! I think it’s about time bloggers start revealing the ugly realities, right? Just me? 🙂
Whatever. It is what it is. But it does make me chuckle (and sometimes cry) at how misleading pictures can be.
