After a fortnight spent with Alex, my kids are back in Brooklyn! The moment they entered the house, they started talking to me at the same time, which I absolutely adore. We also made a trip to Target to grab some “first-day-of-school gear,” as Anton put it, along with sharpened pencils and apple-cider-scented body wash.

Have you ever watched Dreaming Whilst Black? I missed this British comedy when it premiered in 2021, and I’m so pleased to have finally come across it. The six episodes follow Kwabena, a young Nigerian-British man aspiring to be a filmmaker but feeling trapped in a dead-end recruiting job. It’s hilarious and satirical, showcasing the micro-aggressions he encounters every day. I binge-watched the entire season in one day and can’t wait for season two.

We’ve got a variety of fruit in the refrigerator—plums, grapes, apples—and I’m considering making a monochromatic red fruit salad, perhaps with vanilla ice cream. Have you cooked anything tasty recently?

I misplaced my favorite rain jacket while in Seattle (shakes fist!!), but fortunately, several Rains jackets are currently discounted. Raincoats can often be bulky and sweaty, but these are lightweight and ideal for travel. The pale blue is lovely, and I’m also fond of the stylish belted one and this waterproof belt bag, gahhh!
