How to Attain Timeless Smokey Eyes with the Honest Beauty Get It Together Eyeshadow Palette

Take a moment to appreciate this repost showcasing one of my top choices for an eyeshadow palette aimed at effortlessly achieving smokey eyes. Also, as a quick aside, I really need to get back into using MAC Face & Body. I was reminded of how gorgeous it appears in photographs!

The Honest Beauty eyeshadow palette includes a card featuring four different looks you can create with it. For this post, I opted for the “Classic Smoky Eye” tutorial, albeit with a slight modification. I began by applying the matte beige color (Vanilla’d Velvet) all over my eyelids as a foundation so that the subsequent shades would stand out a bit more.

I felt a bit apprehensive about applying the shimmery gold across my lids and the shimmery dark purple in the outer corner because…I’m now in my 40s, and shine doesn’t always complement my mature skin, especially in the crease area. Some might even say that I have a tendency to be “overly fussy about shimmery finishes,” *ahem*. Can you blame me? One misstep and every fine line becomes visible!

But, I chose to go for it regardless, trusting that the matte beige underneath would temper the shine, which it did!

As I blended, I discovered yet another reason to adore this palette. The more you blend and work with these eyeshadows, the less pronounced their shine becomes, evolving into a more satin-like finish. This ultimately results in a soft, pearlescent glow, making the classic smokey eye perfectly suitable for daytime! When I dropped Connor off at school this morning, I didn’t feel as though I had “overdone” it.

Oh, I’ve been eager to share — I found the most stunning cream blush by Chanel! It’s Les Beiges Blush No. 20, a stick formula, priced at $45 (!), but oh my, it’s incredible. It’s a bronzy, peachy tan with the finest shimmering gold flecks that give a natural touch of color to the cheeks. I appreciate how easily it blends and how it doesn’t sit on the surface of my skin or in my pores.

If you really prefer a blush that doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, consider this one for its remarkably natural finish.

Just a note, if your complexion is lighter than mine, No. 20 is likely to serve more as a bronzer on you, and if you’re darker, you may find that one of Chanel’s brighter cream blushes like No. 21 or No. 22 would be a better choice since No. 20 might not show up as easily on deeper skin tones.

Other products I’ve been enjoying lately: blending two shades of Honest Beauty liquid lipstick, specifically Passion and Off Duty, to create the ideal mid-toned coral pink; and using a classic base combo with MAC Face and Body (I mix C4 and C5), setting it with just a touch of MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural Powder (my shade is Medium Golden).

Seriously, why did I ever take a hiatus from using Face and Body? IT’S SO AMAZING, particularly for that no-makeup makeup look. I’ve talked endlessly about it on MBB for years, so if you’re new here and want to learn more about why it’s such a gem, drop a note in the comments and I’ll gladly share my thoughts again, LOL! LOVE IT.

Oh my goodness, one final thing before I sign off — have you caught the Britney Spears documentary on Hulu? I’ve heard so much buzz about it, and I told myself, “Alright, I’ll give it 10 minutes of my time, and that’s it,” but then I started watching it and I COULD. NOT. TURN AWAY.

This one-hour documentary produced by The New York Times chronicles Britney’s rise to stardom, her very public struggles in the media during the early 2000s, and the conservatorship imposed on her in 2008, which some believe was against her wishes. Some conspiracy theorists even suggest that her Instagram is filled with coded messages seeking help.

<pAs you might know, I’m wholeheartedly on #TeamBritney, and watching the documentary left me with the hope that someday she’ll surprise us all (in the best, healthiest way possible).

To Britney and all the strong women out there hanging on, turn those lemons into the most fabulous lemonade, ladies. Keep going!

<pYour friendly neighborhood beauty enthusiast,

Karen

# How to Create Classic Smokey Eyes with the Honest Beauty Get It Together Eyeshadow Palette

The classic smokey eye is a timeless makeup look that radiates elegance, intrigue, and seduction. Whether you’re dressing for a glamorous occasion or simply looking to enhance your everyday appearance, mastering the smokey eye technique is essential in your beauty repertoire. One of the best resources for achieving this look is the **Honest Beauty Get It Together Eyeshadow Palette**, a versatile selection of 10 richly pigmented shades that vary from soft neutrals to bold, dramatic colors. In this guide, we’ll guide you through crafting the perfect classic smokey eye with this palette.

## What You’ll Need:
– **Honest Beauty Get It Together Eyeshadow Palette**
– Eyeshadow brushes (blending brush, flat shader brush, and a small detail brush)
– Eyeshadow primer (optional, but suggested for longevity)
– Black eyeliner (pencil or gel)
– Mascara
– Concealer (optional, for cleanup)

### Step 1: Prepare Your Eyes
Before jumping into the eyeshadow application, it’s crucial to prepare your eyelids. Start by applying an **eyeshadow primer** to ensure your makeup stays in place and avoids creasing throughout the day or night. If you don’t have a primer, a little concealer can help create an even, smooth base for your eyeshadow.

### Step 2: Apply a Transition Shade
A transition shade aids in smoothly blending darker colors into your natural skin tone. From the **Honest Beauty Get It Together Palette**, select a soft, neutral shade like **”Soft Bronze”** or **”Vanilla’d Velvet.”** Utilize a fluffy **blending brush** to blend this shade into your crease using a windshield-wiper motion. This technique will create a seamless gradient and facilitate the blending of darker shades later.

### Step 3: Add Depth with a Medium Shade
Next, it’s time to deepen the eye look. Choose a medium-toned shade like **”Matte Plum”** or **”Sable Brown”** from the palette. Using the same blending brush, apply this color directly into the crease, focusing on the outer corner of your eye. Blend thoroughly but avoid bringing it too high toward the brow bone. This step adds dimension to your eyes and lays the foundation for the darker shades.

### Step 4: Darken the Outer Corner
Now, let’s enhance the look with a darker shade. For a classic smokey eye, use a deep, rich color like **”Smoke”** or **”Magnetic Ink”** from the palette. With a smaller, more precise **detail brush**, apply this shade to the outer “V” of your eye, concentrating on the outer corner while blending slightly into the crease. Be sure to blend well to prevent any harsh lines. You can layer the color for a more intense smokey effect.

### Step 5: Smoke Out the Lower Lash Line
A true smokey eye isn’t complete without some action on the lower lash line. Utilizing a **small detail brush**, apply the same dark shade (like **”Smoke”** or **”Magnetic Ink”**) along your lower lash line. Start at the outer corner and blend inward, keeping the pigment more concentrated on the outer half. For a softer vibe, you can blend it out with a medium shade like **”Sable Brown.”**

### Step 6: Add a Touch of Light
To counterbalance the darkness of the smokey eye, incorporate a hint of brightness in the inner corners. Select a light, shimmery shade like **”Iced Cotton”** or **”Sunlit Copper”** from the palette. Apply this shade to the inner corners and just below the brow bone to illuminate and open up your eyes. This addition will provide a polished and professional finish to your smokey eye.

### Step 7: Line Your Eyes
To amp up the drama, use a **black eyeliner** to line both your upper and lower lash lines. Depending on your preference, you may use a pencil or gel liner. For an even smokier effect, gently smudge the liner with a small brush or your fingertip to soften the edges. If you desire a more striking look, tightline your upper waterline with the black liner.

### Step 8: Finish with Mascara
Completing a smokey eye requires voluminous lashes. Curl your lashes and apply a generous coat of **mascara** to both upper and lower lashes. For extra allure, consider adding false lashes for additional volume and length.

### Step 9: Clean Up and Perfect
If you encounter any fallout or smudging, grab a bit of **
