I discovered this box of candles at At Home. Candles that are 10-12 inches long will work. To insert the candles into the bottles, warm the bottom of the candle with a lighter for a few seconds. Then, push it into the bottle while twisting gently. This way, it will slide in and allow you to straighten it out.
Here’s where the issue arises. Nowadays, taper candles are designed so they don’t drip everywhere. Kudos to today’s candle makers for improving things, but in doing so, they made the task trickier. 🙁
There are various methods to actually get the wax to melt and run down the side. Basically, you’ll need to create a channel for the wax to flow down. After experimenting a bit, I found that lighting another candle to burn the channel while also using wax from the candle I was holding yielded the best results.
Don’t fret if this seems a bit unclear. In essence, you just need to aid the candles to let the wax drip. The best approach is using a lighter or another candle. Melt it to your liking, and you’re all set!
