The bar’s decoration is progressing well, and I’m enjoying discovering innovative methods to showcase our favorite items! Two favorites: Proper Twelve Irish Whiskey (his) and candles (mine). So, I combined these two elements (literally) and crafted some candle bottle decor that I adore.
Supplies for Melted Candles:
Whatever you decide to do, make sure to place aluminum foil underneath the bottles. I might have learned this the hard way.
I discovered this pack of candles at At Home. Candles that are 10-12 inches long will work. To insert the candles into the bottles, warm the bottom of the candle with a lighter for a few seconds, then push it gently into the bottle while twisting. You’ll notice it pushes the candle in and lets you align it properly.
Here’s where the challenge arises. Today’s taper candles are designed to not drip everywhere. Hats off to modern candlemakers for improving things, yet somehow complicating everything. 🙁
There are several methods to make the wax melt down the sides. Essentially, you need to create a channel for the wax to flow through. After some trial and error, I discovered that lighting another candle to burn this channel while also using wax from the candle I was holding yielded the best results.
Don’t stress if that sounds confusing. In short, you just need to assist the candles to get the wax to drip. Using a lighter or another candle is the most effective way. Melt it to your preferred appearance, and you’re all set!
I’m incredibly happy with how they turned out! It’s just the masculine candle bottle decor I needed for some shelves. I can’t wait to share more about the bar area! Remember, I share plenty of updates on Instagram if you’d like to follow my journey there!
