The bar’s decoration is progressing nicely, and I’m enjoying the process of discovering imaginative ways to showcase our favorite items! Two of our favorites are: Proper Twelve Irish Whiskey (his choice) and candles (mine). I combined these two elements (literally) and created some candle bottle decor that I really adore.
Materials Needed for Melting Candles:
Whatever steps you take, ensure you put aluminum foil under the bottles. I may or may not have learned this the hard way.
I discovered this collection of candles at At Home. Candles between 10-12 inches will work well. To insert the candles into the bottles, hold a lighter beneath the candle’s base to heat it up. After a few seconds, insert it into the bottle while gently twisting and pushing down. You’ll notice it helps the candle fit in and straighten out.
This is where the challenge arises. Modern taper candles are designed so they don’t drip everywhere. Kudos to today’s candle makers for improving things, but it kinda complicates them too. 🙁
There are several approaches to facilitate the melting of the wax down the sides. In essence, you’ll need to create a channel for the wax to flow down. Through some experimentation, I found that lighting another candle to create this channel while also melting wax from the candle I was holding worked best.
If that wasn’t clear, don’t fret. Simply assist the candles to get the wax to run down. Using a lighter or another candle provides the best results. Melt it to your liking, and you’re set!
I’m thrilled with how they turned out! It’s just the rugged candle bottle decor I needed for some shelves. I look forward to sharing more of the bar area with you! Remember, I share plenty of updates on Instagram if you’d like to follow my journey there!
