Initially, Eryka (above, left) exclusively tried on white gowns for her wedding. “I went through every single option I could find,” she noted, “and ran out of choices. So, I decided to consider color.” Ultimately, she and her fiancée Rachel opted for fuchsia on their special day. Here, three couples reveal their coordinated styles…

Eryka: We had intended to tie the knot in August 2026 in the lakeside town where Rachel was raised, but after the 2024 presidential election, we believed it was essential to get everything in order before the inauguration in January 2025. We had just two months.
Rachel: Even though it was nontraditional, a vibrant wedding outfit felt right to me. I envisioned wearing a suit, and I’ve always been drawn to a fluorescent color scheme. Given our tight schedule, the question was, what options did I have? I knew J. Crew would have well-fitting pieces that I’d feel good in.
Eryka: When I opted against white dresses, Instagram’s algorithm presented me with a pink Banana Republic gown, and it just resonated with me.
Rachel: At first, I was concerned we might appear overly coordinated. But Eryka had a clear vision, and she is usually spot-on with her aesthetic decisions.
Eryka: Solange’s wedding has been etched in my mind ever since I saw the photos in 2014. I admire how she and her husband both donned white and appeared so sleek and cohesive. Coordinating is not something we typically do outside of this context, which made it feel special.

Andrew: From the beginning, we envisioned wearing similar outfits to symbolize our union in marriage. We discovered an incredible tailor in L.A. — Jerry at JB Clothiers. He even bespoke our shirts and incorporated details like our initials. I loved that we had matching outfits yet maintained subtle differences, including our choice of shoes.
Dae: We chose white tuxedos with black accents. We wanted to avoid looking traditional but didn’t want to appear overly trendy either, and the white tuxedos struck a perfect balance. We also dressed our wedding party in black.
Dae: I believe that much of a heterosexual wedding focuses on the bride’s appearance, but that isn’t who we are. We wanted to highlight how we shine individually while also shining together as a couple. I dislike when friends mash names together like Bennifer, but it really turned into a DaeDrew situation.
Katie + Mike
Katie: I had previously been married and worn a conventional gown, but neither that marriage nor dress felt as ‘me’ as I desired this time.
Mike: I envisioned a refined look incorporating florals — something blue, paired with winter whites. This coat ended up being precisely what I needed.
Katie: Mike decided on that jacket, and while I was still exploring ideas, I stumbled upon a complementary corset. That’s what brought everything together.
Mike: Coordinating our looks emphasized that we are in this together.
Katie: Plus, it contributed a sense of gender equality to the event, which is extremely important to us.
