If you’re not already aware, I’ve been blogging for nearly 18 years, and August 2025 will mark the official 18-year milestone. Back in 2005, I began dreaming of opening a café and realized that before pursuing that, I wanted to learn everything possible about coffee. Thus, I started devouring any books I could find and became a devoted reader of Coffee Geek – the leading coffee blog at that time. I even participated in coffee conferences (which were quite few back then) where I met James Hoffman, who had just been named World Barista Champion, among other champions, to learn from and quiz them about coffee. After acquiring a wealth of knowledge, I thought, “Why not share this with the world?” and that’s when I launched FROM COFFEE WITH LOVE – a homage to coffee, writing a letter about how to appreciate the coffee bean.
Ultimately, in 2010, I opened a café in Cape Town named Escape Caffe, which I operated with immense support and assistance from my wife for about 3 years… but that’s another story or maybe a book. Regardless, I’ve developed an entrepreneurial mindset course based on my experiences, covering both soft and hard skills, financial planning, secrets of running a coffee shop, and more.
