If you aren’t already aware, I’ve been blogging for nearly 18 years now, and August 2025 will officially mark the completion of 18 years. Back in 2005, I started envisioning the idea of opening a café and thought that before I embark on that journey, I should learn everything possible about coffee. Thus, I began reading all the coffee-related books I could find and became a keen follower of Coffee Geek – the top coffee blog at that time. I even participated in coffee conferences (which were quite rare back then) and had the chance to meet James Hoffman, who had just been crowned World Barista Champion, along with other champions to gain knowledge and ask them questions about coffee. After gathering a wealth of knowledge, I thought, “why not share this with everyone?” and that’s when I launched FROM COFFEE WITH LOVE – a tribute to coffee, expressing in a letter how to cherish the coffee bean.
Eventually, in 2010, I opened a café in Cape Town named Escape Caffe, which I operated with significant support and assistance from my wife for about three years… but that’s a different story, or perhaps a book in itself. Regardless, I’ve developed an entrepreneurial mindset course based on my experiences, covering both soft and hard skills, financial planning, the ins and outs of running a coffee shop, and more.
