Archival Lip Essentials Gift Set
The Archival Lip Essentials Gift Set features three full-sized lip products with a new mauve hue named Archival. The set contains a Signature Lip Lightweight Lip Blush, Signature Lip Sheer Lip Liner, and a Tinted Lip Oil.
The pencil and lipstick both appear quite cool-toned on me. I was uncertain they would complement my skin and lip tone since most cool colors tend to look greyish on me, but they surprisingly work! The gloss effectively ties the entire look together.
The Merit Signature Lip Sheer Lip Liner stands apart from any other liner available. It resembles a glossy crayon in the form of lipliner. Definitely unique and appealing for those who prefer a minimalist aesthetic. I appreciate that they glide on smoothly and deliver a glossy finish. The longevity isn’t as enduring as a matte finish, but I find them quite intriguing.
The Lip Blush offers a very light feeling; it’s a subtle lip product, yet the pigmentation remains impressive. The texture is smooth despite being matte. This differs significantly from their other Signature Lipsticks. I tried their lipsticks some time ago upon their launch and wasn’t particularly impressed. They felt slightly too waxy for my taste, but I might reconsider since many of you adore them. The new Lip Blush included in this set resembles a diffused matte lip tint rather than a traditional lipstick. I still love glossy lips at heart, but I do appreciate the texture and finish of the Lip Blush.
Lip Oils provide a nice sheer tint. These also appear on the sheer side for me, but I really enjoy them layered over lipstick to add depth and shine. They have a very thin texture, which makes them non-sticky. Additionally, because of their lightweight nature, they won’t last as long, but they tend to stay put longer when paired with lipstick or liner.
I previously shared a demo of the lipliner and oils in this post here back in April. I don’t believe I did a dedicated blog post on these, so I swatched the shades I have to show the new Archival tones alongside some existing colors.
Mini Flush Blush Balm Trio
I’ve had such a mixed response to the Merit cream blushes because they tend to be too dewy and sheer for my skin, but many of you requested a review of this year’s Mini Flush Blush Balm Trio Set. This year has certainly been a transitional one for me with our move, aging, and skin changes, leading to noticeably drier skin. I’m still in the process of finding a dermatologist since relocating, but due to the dryness, I can wear more cream products.
I think these are adorable, but I still find them too dewy and creamy for my liking. They’re enjoyable for a lovely pop of color, and if you’re a fan of cream blushes that blend into a sheer tint or favor that dewy appearance, then I believe you’ll really enjoy them.
I’ll manage to wear these for a night out, but I will likely need to set them with a powder blush. For dewy cream blushes, I think the Dior Backstage Rosy Glow Blush Sticks are superior. If you’re looking for something less dewy, the Victoria Beckham Cheeky Posh Cream Blush Sticks or Westman Atelier Baby Cheeks are better choices (for me).
Le Bonbon is a bright but sheered-out pink.
Redux is a tan brown shade.
Postmodern is a berry-toned wine shade.
I genuinely adore the look when these are blended out; I just wish they weren’t as dewy. A satin or semi-matte finish would be absolutely perfect for me.
