YSL Beauty presents some of the most beautiful limited-edition packaging in this year’s holiday collection! I acquired the Golden Oasis Couture Face Palette ($85) along with the new hues of Loveshine Plumping Lip Oil Gloss ($40) and Candy Glaze Lip Gloss Stick ($43).
Golden Oasis Couture Face Palette
The Golden Oasis Couture Face Palette is encased in a breathtaking limited-edition mirrored compact featuring six cheek colors. Three of the shades are shimmery highlighters, while three are blushes encompassing two shimmers and one matte. Out of all the recent blush releases, I believe the YSL Make Me Blush formula stands out for its soft, blendable texture and shades. Original review here. Several of the colors closely resemble individual shades I already own. The peachy shimmer is reminiscent of Restless Rose, while the rose pink shimmer is quite similar to Nude Lavalliere.
The palette includes a delicate peachy gold shimmer, a pale gold shimmer, a soft iridescent pink sparkle, a rose shimmer blush, a deep magenta matte blush, and a warm copper gold shimmer.
The highlighters are quite shimmery, so if high shimmer shades aren’t your preference, I suggest choosing another face palette.
I truly adore this one. It contains everything needed for a holiday look, and I appreciate that the shimmers can also be applied to the eyes.
New Holiday Lip Colors
There are two new shades of the Loveshine Plumping Lip Oil Gloss: 100 Sparkling Dream and 12 Honey Moon. I tested these earlier this year and reviewed them here. I love the colors and shine, but the plumping effect is quite intense and the sensation is overwhelming for me. However, I decided to try them again since the shades are SO beautiful, although I still can’t wear them comfortably on my lips. That said, when I layer them over a lipstick, the lipstick serves as a buffer, making the plumping gloss more tolerable. All shades swatched in this video here.
As a Candy Glaze enthusiast, I couldn’t be happier about the new shades launched in this specific formula (original review here). 21 Shimmer Nude is a lovely pale opalescent champagne beige shade that appears quite light on my skin tone. 22 Shimmer Rose is the one MUST-HAVE in my view. It’s an incredibly stunning soft rose pink hue. It’s currently sold out online, but I still highly recommend using the Buy Online Pick Up In Store option – it’s a fantastic way to reserve products online and collect them at your convenience. I also use it to verify availability at my local store before visiting. By popular demand, I pulled a few comparisons to other rose shades and additional Candy Glaze hues. I particularly love the Dior Addict Lip Maximizer in 083 Sparkling Rose, which is a slightly warmer alternative to YSL 22 Shimmer Rose (but in gloss form).
Overall, I adore every aspect of this collection in terms of color. While I still can’t wear those plumping lip glosses comfortably, the colors are undeniably stunning. If you choose just one item from this release, I wholeheartedly believe that Candy Glaze 22 is the standout.
