We covered seven spring trends, and numerous readers have asked for a summer version. Naturally, it doesn’t really matter — life’s short, wear anything you like! — but I thought we’d share for those who enjoy it. Here are eight summer trends to keep an eye on…
1. Oversized button-downs. As a foundation piece, I always keep an MVP lightweight shirt handy to drape over swimsuits/shorts/skirts all summer long, and this linen option is available in 15 shades.
2. White midi skirts. They’re certainly enjoying popularity. Last evening, I was outdoors playing gin rummy at a bookstore (as one does lol), and numerous women wore lovely white skirts. Although they can be surprisingly pricey, this 100% organic cotton one is merely $50.
3. Track shorts. Track shorts remain eternally cool and sporty for summer escapades. Also: scalloped!
4. Blockprint anything. A couple of years ago, we visited friends on Fire Island, and I donned the same blockprint cover-up with bare feet throughout the weekend. Pure bliss! Now block prints are emerging even more than usual. How lovely are these pieces in a lilac print? These brown pants are wonderful, too. (Emerson Fry also designs stunning ones, and SZ Blockprints’ disco pants are playful.)
5. Jumbo ric-rac. The ideal dinner dress! Simply add chic sandals and tousled hair. This one is so charming and comes in a shorter version, too.
6. Leather flip flops: I attended a fashion gathering the other day, and everyone was wearing black leather flip flops. Reviewers claim this pair is extremely comfy, so I’m keen to try them. Also, any opinions on jelly flip flops?
7. Matching sets: The summer version of a jumpsuit — one and done. These stunning sets are incredibly expensive, but you can also discover adorable ones here, here, and here.
8. A sexy swimsuit. Okay, a sexy swimsuit isn’t quite a trend, but Andie Swim is a CoJ reader favorite, and once I sampled their suits, I understood why. It’s unusual that I don a swimsuit and feel instantly good, but that’s how I felt with every style I tried. This summer, I’ll be sporting their one-piece and these buttons.
