Chanel has transformed their signature gloss into an updated formula known as the Rouge Coco Hydra Gloss ($45 each). As a longtime admirer of Chanel, I was excited to be invited to preview these at the Chanel Beauty Boutique in Brickell Miami.
Long-time beautylookbook readers might recall that Chanel inspired my very first blog entry back in 2009 with the Celestial Lights Glossimers (RIP). The new Rouge Coco Hydra Gloss exceeds my expectations! I never thought they could surpass the previous formula, but they have managed to do so. It’s bittersweet that so many stunning shades have been discontinued, and I still hold hope they will reintroduce some original hues from years past (for example, Seashell, Unity, Blizzard, etc.). The new formula is reminiscent of the last one but clearly improved. It feels smoother with a slightly lighter texture. Extremely hydrating without slipping off the lips. Glossy with a brilliant shine. Personally, I find the pigmentation to be a tad more opaque with most of the shades I experimented with.
The Chanel team provided us with three shades in a pouch during the event, but my lack of self-discipline led me to purchase several to take home. I believe every single color is wearable. I still have a few more on my wish list, but for now, here’s a look at what I picked up.

I didn’t have an opportunity to lip swatch them all, but I hope this gives you a solid idea of what the colors resemble!
I am completely smitten. I already look forward to more colors being launched in future collections. They also have new Le Vernis nail colors and the Summer Nights Collection available. I’m uncertain how soon I’ll get to swatch or review, but I find the nail colors exceptionally beautiful.
