Bedroom Decoration Featuring Tartan Plaid Design

Bedroom Decoration Featuring Tartan Plaid Design

Maybe the only thing I cherish more than plaid is tartan plaid. There’s just something about it in traditional Christmas hues that leaves me enamored during the festive season. Enamored like a girl at a Harry Styles concert. Or a girl gazing at a box of doughnuts–both experiences I can relate to.

I’m teaming up with some incredibly talented blogging friends to showcase our holiday spaces this week. Don’t believe me? Take a look at this lineup! If you’ve arrived here from Shand at Quarters One, welcome! I’m thrilled to have you here!

Tartan Plaid Bedroom

I don’t do extensive decorating in our bedrooms now that my kids are older (which means: they don’t care anymore), so it was the ideal chance to refresh my son’s room/guestroom. Something else I rarely do? Use red in my decor! THIS was a delightful change.

I’ve come to understand that I enjoy decorating, but I’m not particularly fond of the prop styling that accompanies modern blogging. I made a commitment to use what I have and keep it from appearing too artificial. Does that resonate?

I didn’t arrange the pillows at ALL until my dog took a flying leap into them during the shoot. He was promptly removed and barred from the room while I extracted dog hair from the navy blanket. Bless me.

White tartan pillows

Speaking of pillows! Va-va-voom!! Am I right? They steal the spotlight. Even better is that I discovered these tartan pillows on Amazon, and they are incredibly affordable! I saved a ton! But then I bought more because they were such a great deal. So I didn’t save as much as I thought! Oops.

Red tartan pillows

I just adore the aesthetic of a daybed adorned with several somewhat disheveled pillows. There’s something about it that says, “Come lounge here. Don’t worry about anything. Everything will be alright. Seriously.” It’s a chatty daybed.

Here’s a little full disclosure (an oxymoron, isn’t it, Chris)? When my son departed for Europe, I cleared out his room and tore up the carpet. I haven’t replaced it yet. The image below shows the subfloor beneath the bed! I think it’s about time bloggers reveal the unflattering truths, don’t you think? Just me? 🙂

Whatever. It is as it is. But it always makes me smile (and weep) how misleading images can be.

I know it’s many images, but it truly is one of my favorites. Tartan plaid holds my heart forever. So does Harry Styles. And Harry Styles IN tartan plaid.

Title: Revitalize Your Bedroom with a Tartan Plaid Theme

Introduction

The bedroom serves as a personal refuge, where comfort intertwines with style. For those aiming to inject their space with a dash of classic charm and warmth, a tartan plaid theme presents the perfect option. Rooted in Scottish culture, tartan plaid is a versatile design that can introduce depth, texture, and a snug atmosphere to any bedroom decor. This article examines various strategies for integrating tartan plaid into your bedroom, crafting a cohesive and inviting environment.

Understanding Tartan Plaid

Tartan plaid is characterized by crisscrossed horizontal and vertical stripes in various colors. Traditionally linked to Scottish clans, each tartan design is distinctive and carries historical significance. Nowadays, tartan plaid is cherished globally for its enduring allure and adaptability in interior styling.

Choosing the Right Tartan Plaid

When picking a tartan plaid for your bedroom, reflect on the color palette and the ambiance you wish to set. Classic red and green tartans evoke a traditional and welcoming vibe, whereas blue or neutral variations provide a more modern and tranquil atmosphere. It’s crucial to balance the vibrancy of the pattern with the overall decor to maintain a harmonious appearance.

Incorporating Tartan Plaid in Bedroom Decor

1. **Bedding**: Begin with the centerpiece of the bedroom—the bed. Tartan plaid bedding, including duvet covers, pillowcases, and throws, can instantly elevate the space. Choose premium fabrics like flannel or wool for added warmth and comfort.

2. **Accent Pillows**: Combine tartan plaid accent pillows with solid hues or matching patterns to create visual appeal in your bed or seating area. This is a simple way to introduce the pattern without overwhelming the space.

3. **Curtains and Drapes**: Tartan plaid curtains can add a bold element to the room. Select a design that complements the wall color and other textiles in the space. For a more subdued effect, consider tartan plaid tiebacks or valances.

4. **Rugs**: A tartan plaid rug can ground the space and offer a cozy feel underfoot. Opt for a rug that coordinates with the bedding and other elements for a cohesive look.

5. **Wall Decor**: Consider using tartan plaid wallpaper or wall art to create a statement wall. This can be especially effective in larger spaces or those with minimal furnishings.

6. **Furniture**: Furnishings, like an upholstered chair or ottoman in tartan plaid, can serve as eye-catching pieces. Ensure the color and pattern align with the overall room theme.

7. **Accessories**: Include tartan plaid in smaller decorative items like lampshades, picture frames, or even a cozy tartan plaid blanket draped over a chair for a subtle enhancement.

Balancing Tartan Plaid with Other Elements

To avoid overwhelming the tartan plaid theme, offset it with solid colors and neutral shades. Integrate natural materials such as wood or leather to add warmth and texture. Metallic touches, like brass or copper, can also beautifully complement the rich shades of tartan plaid.

Conclusion

A tartan plaid theme in the bedroom provides a distinctive mix of tradition and modernity, shaping a space that is both stylish and welcoming. By thoughtfully selecting and balancing tartan plaid elements, you can transform your bedroom into a cozy haven that embodies your personal taste. Whether you choose bold patterns or delicate accents, tartan plaid is a timeless option that will enhance the charm and comfort of your bedroom.
