Recently, I picked up a few lip products from Chanel and I couldn’t be happier with my selections! They have brought back some shades in the Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue and Rouge Coco Flash formulas (both fantastic hues). Chanel has also introduced new shades of the 31 Le Rouge in both satin and matte formulas, and I indulged in two of the new additions. I shared a demo here if you’re interested in seeing them in action.
31 Le Rouge
The Chanel 31 Le Rouge ($195) remains one of the best lipstick formulas I’ve ever experienced. It’s among the priciest lipsticks available, yet it meets all my lipstick criteria. It boasts a classic formulation that is extremely creamy, smooth in coverage, bold in color (except for the shimmers), and is utterly perfect in my eyes. There are six new shades total, three satin and three matte. I purchased 7 Rouge Brode (satin) and 17 Rouge Confident (matte), and I adore both. I also discovered I had two previous matte releases, 13 Rouge Jersey and 14 Rouge Intimiste, in a storage box that I hadn’t reviewed yet. They’re included in my roundup today.
7 Rouge Brode (satin) is a shimmering light pink. It’s a bit sheer, similar in finish to 1 Rouge Beige (my all-time favorite). The sparkles are multi-colored if you look closely. I think it’s absolutely stunning. It reminds me of some of the amazing Glossimer shades that have long been discontinued (e.g., Seashell).

17 Rouge Confident (matte) is an ultra pale beige matte. I was concerned it might be too light for me, but given its warm undertone, I decided to try it out. In-store, I still don’t test on my lips or face, but I do swatch on my hand. It was a costly gamble, but I adore it! Most shades this light tend to be too cool-toned or pastel – but this one is just right for me.

The other two matte shades are darker and perfect for fall. Both offer full coverage with a classic matte finish. Being matte, they cling a bit more to the lips and may tug slightly during application, but that’s not a deal-breaker. I appreciate that they appear and feel non-dry. I think 14 Rouge Intimiste is a gorgeous mauve pink brown that isn’t overly dark or brown; however, out of all the shades, this one might be the simplest to dupe.

13 Rouge Jersey is another lovely neutral. It leans very warm, but I generally prefer warmer nudes on my darker pigmented lips.
A lot of you have asked if these are “worth” the price point, and I’m not sure anyone can truly declare a $195 lipstick as “worth it.” I still question whether a $50+ lipstick can genuinely be considered worth it. However, I am completely satisfied with my purchases and have no regrets.
Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue
The Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue ($50) is the best long-wear liquid lipstick I’ve encountered. Once it sets, it’s practically budge-proof. They re-launched 174 Endless Pink, which is a warm pink shade, so I grabbed it the moment I saw it available. I think it’s a fantastic everyday coral pink that still appears neutral on me. If you seek a true neutral, 186 Pink Nude is still the best choice.
These liquid lipsticks have a dual-sided design: one end contains the pigmented liquid color, while the opposite end holds a gloss topper. I highly recommend applying the top coat; otherwise, the liquid lipstick can feel a bit thick or tacky.
Rouge Coco Flash – Bisous
Chanel has recently released the Rouge Coco Flash in Bisous individually. This was previously exclusive to the Nature Getaway Set from last year, and I believe it’s one of the most beautiful coral pink shades I’ve ever tried. It is sheer, but you can build the color if you apply it with a brush. The formula is smooth, hydrating, and glossy – my go-to for lip products.
