Chanel has transformed their classic gloss into a fresh formula known as the Rouge Coco Hydra Gloss ($45 each). As a devoted Chanel enthusiast, I was excited to receive an invitation to preview these at the Chanel Beauty Boutique in Brickell Miami.
Longtime readers of beautylookbook may recall that Chanel inspired my very first blog entry back in 2009, featuring the Celestial Lights Glossimers (RIP). Chanel Beauty will always have a treasured spot in my heart. For those who’ve been with me, thank you immensely! My 20-something self would have never imagined this evolving into my career.

The new Rouge Coco Hydra Gloss exceeds my expectations! I was skeptical they could surpass the last formula, but they somehow managed it. It’s unfortunate to see so many lovely shades being discontinued, and I still hold onto hope that some of the original shades from years past (like Seashell, Unity, Blizzard, etc.) will return. The new formula closely resembles the previous one but with distinct upgrades. It feels smoother with a slightly more lightweight texture. Extremely hydrating yet stays firmly on the lips. Glossy with a brilliant shine. Personally, I find the pigmentation a bit more opaque in most shades I tried.
The Chanel team provided us with three shades in a pouch during the event, but due to my lack of self-restraint, I ended up purchasing several to take home. I believe every shade is totally wearable. I still have a few more on my wishlist, but for now, here’s a look at what I picked up.

Cristal is a sparkly semi-sheer iridescent pink, with no gritty texture from the sparkle.

I am completely obsessed. I already can’t wait for more colors to be launched in future collections. They also have new Le Vernis nail colors and the Summer Nights Collection available. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to swatch or review them, but the nail colors appear stunning.
