Have you checked out Beef Season 2? I wasn’t a huge fan of the first season, but the current one — featuring a completely new cast and storyline — is SO CAPTIVATING. At a super-exclusive California country club run by a Korean billionaire, the employees — including a pair of couples — start tricking each other, with varying degrees of urgency, to ascend the social ranks. Some folks argue it’s just a White Lotus knock-off, but who cares? I found it impossible to stop watching.
A few weeks back, I had dinner with our Soup Group, and my friend Linsey whipped up strawberry crumble. I had forgotten how delicious fruit crumble can be! Feeling inspired, the boys and I made this uncomplicated recipe in our reliable pie pan this week, and it more than met our expectations.
Have you checked out Dan Pelosi’s new rug collection? The patterns are influenced by his Italian-American roots and passion for hosting gatherings. I’m particularly drawn to his tomato doormat. All the images were shot at Dan’s upstate residence, which is so vibrant and breathtaking. (I know some readers have thoughtfully expressed concerns in the past about washing synthetic rugs. We mostly spot-clean ours, and on the rare occasions we wash them, we use cold water to reduce shedding.)
Finally, earlier this week I encountered the painter Keith Jackson, and his story is so fascinating. Situated in Kenosha, Wisconsin, he spent his entire life working as a building contractor until 2020, when he dedicated himself to painting full-time. It’s remarkable when individuals find their creative purposes later in life, like fellow Midwesterner Julie Blackmon, who turned to photography after having three kids. (On a related note, haha)
P.S. Additional exciting stuff, and three women discuss their mid-life career transformations (gift link).
**Four Enjoyable Activities to Enrich Your Life**
In today’s fast-paced environment, making time to relax and partake in enjoyable activities is essential for maintaining a balanced and satisfying life. Whether you’re looking to unwind, learn something new, or simply have fun, here are four enjoyable activities that can enrich your life:
1. **Gardening: Cultivating Joy and Nature**
Gardening is a fulfilling activity that allows you to engage with nature while beautifying your environment. Whether you have a large backyard or a small balcony, gardening can be adapted to any space size. The act of planting seeds, caring for them, and observing their growth can be incredibly rewarding. Gardening also offers numerous health advantages, such as stress reduction, mood improvement, and a source of fresh produce. Additionally, it’s an excellent way to get physical activity and enjoy the outdoors.
2. **Cooking: A Culinary Adventure**
Cooking is more than just a necessity; it serves as a delightful and creative outlet. Trying out new recipes and ingredients can be both enjoyable and educational. Cooking allows you to explore different cultures through their cuisines, and it becomes a social activity when shared with family and friends. The process of preparing a meal can be meditative, with the final result being a delicious reward. Furthermore, cooking at home often proves to be healthier and more cost-effective than dining out.
3. **Reading: Journey Through Words**
Reading is an activity capable of transporting you to different worlds, times, and points of view. Whether you enjoy fiction, non-fiction, or poetry, there is an extensive array of literature to delve into. Reading can enhance your vocabulary, amplify your knowledge, and fuel your imagination. It’s also an excellent way to relax and unwind, offering a respite from daily life stressors. Engaging in a book club can add a social aspect to this solitary pursuit, permitting the sharing of insights and discussion of ideas with others.
4. **Hiking: Exploring the Great Outdoors**
Hiking is a fantastic way to merge exercise with an exploration of nature. Whether opting for a challenging mountain trail or a gentle forest path, hiking allows a disconnect from technology and reconnection with the natural surroundings. It provides physical benefits such as improved cardiovascular health and increased strength, alongside mental benefits like reduced anxiety and enhanced mood. Hiking can be undertaken solo or as a group activity, making it adaptable and accessible for everyone.
Participating in these activities can bring a sense of accomplishment, relaxation, and joy. Whether you’re tending to a garden, crafting a culinary masterpiece, delving into a good book, or exploring nature’s magnificence, these pursuits can enhance overall well-being and add more pleasure to life.
