I’ve always been intrigued by experimenting with beauty trends — popsicle pouts, double braids, shell nails — but this latest one has me perplexed…
Ghost lashes.
Essentially, you use clear mascara or none at all. Beauty editors fully embrace it: “It’s a no-mascara summer,” said New York Magazine. “The latest in lashes is going ghost,” wrote Elle. “Barely there lashes ‘ghost lashes’ are sticking around this fall,” agreed Glamour. But I’ve applied mascara almost daily since I was 15 — that’s quite a few days! — and skipping it makes me feel oddly exposed.
When I talked to my fashion friend Jessie, she cracked me up: “I’ve rarely worn mascara because whenever I apply it, I end up crying that day,” she shared. “It’s such bad luck.”
The trick to minimal makeup, I gather, is ensuring your skin feels smooth and moisturized. Personally, I adore this plumping serum and drugstore facial cleanser, recommended by my dermatologist (the mild cleanser doesn’t dry out your skin). I’d love to get your suggestions!
So…what do you think? Will you (or do you) go for ghost lashes? xoxo
P.S. More do or don’ts, and my favorite everyday nail polish.
