Hoping You Have a Pleasant Weekend Coming

What are your plans for the weekend? I’ve been on the road for work and am thrilled to return home to hug the boys. In my twenties, I fantasized about bringing treats back from a journey for my future kids, just like my parents would. Now I’m on the lookout for cool candy or an airport keychain (which they’d probably love the most haha). Hope you have a great weekend, and here are some links from around the internet…

Crimped hair is making a comeback! Thoughts?

The boys had three servings of skillet chicken pot pie each.

Banana Republic currently has 40% off. I’m considering these comfy jeans, these easy shoes, and this lovely sweater.

This ballet dancer’s 345-square-foot apartment still allows for stretching.

Six lessons from Sense and Sensibility. For instance, “Don’t settle for someone lousy” and “Close the door behind you, take a long and passionate walk. Fill your lungs, stretch out your arms, for you are alive!”

”In advocating for every Black child, did I betray my own?” Intriguing online discussion. Next week, This American Life will present a talk with the mother and daughter. (NYTimes gift link)

Funny picture of a dog, haha.

An outstanding 3-in-1 product that leaves my skin glowing and my mornings more manageable.

118 activities to try instead of doomscrolling. “Go for a cat-spotting stroll…Back a car into a driveway without hitting the house.” Really love all of these. (NYTimes gift link)

Made me chuckle.

Plus, two reader comments:

Says PNW Grateful on 9 readers share their honeymoon snapshots: “When we moved across the country, I found an old card from my dad in a box. He had written, ‘Add this to your honeymoon fund, and have a blast.’ He was an older dad, so he was in his seventies when I got married. Now, when my friends text me about their plans, I say ‘Have a blast!’ as a tribute to my dad.”

Says Rebecca on how not to cry while chopping onions: “My husband keeps his *dirt-biking* goggles in the kitchen for onion chopping! It always makes me laugh to walk in and find him there with those huge goggles on.”

**Wishing You a Great Weekend Ahead: Suggestions and Ideas for a Relaxing Break**

As the week comes to an end, the weekend brings a sense of relief and excitement. Whether you’re planning to relax at home, explore new places, or catch up with loved ones, weekends provide a necessary break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Here are some suggestions and ideas to ensure you have a great weekend ahead.

**1. Plan Ahead but Stay Adaptable:**
While spontaneity can lead to unexpected adventures, having a loose plan can help you make the most of your weekend. Think about making a list of activities you’d like to do, but allow for some adaptability. This way, you can adjust to any changes in weather or mood without feeling stressed.

**2. Enjoy the Outdoors:**
Spending time in nature is a great way to recharge. Whether it’s hiking in the mountains, walking in the park, or having a picnic by the lake, being outdoors can enhance your mood and provide a sense of tranquility. Don’t forget to check the weather forecast and dress suitably for your chosen activity.

**3. Engage in a Hobby:**
Weekends are the perfect time to dive into hobbies you might not have time for during the week. Whether it’s painting, gardening, reading, or cooking, engaging in activities you love can be incredibly fulfilling and help you unwind.

**4. Connect with Loved Ones:**
Use the weekend to strengthen relationships with family and friends. Plan a brunch, a movie night, or a simple coffee catch-up. Meaningful connections are vital for emotional well-being and can make your weekend more enjoyable.

**5. Practice Self-Care:**
Take some time for yourself to relax and rejuvenate. This could be through meditation, yoga, a long bath, or simply sleeping in. Prioritizing self-care can help reduce stress and prepare you for the week ahead.

**6. Explore Local Events:**
Check out local events happening over the weekend. Farmers’ markets, art exhibitions, concerts, or community festivals can offer unique experiences and support local businesses. Exploring your community can also lead to discovering new interests and meeting new people.

**7. Limit Screen Time:**
While it’s tempting to binge-watch your favorite series, try to limit screen time to ensure you’re making the most of your weekend. Instead, focus on activities that engage your mind and body, allowing you to return to work feeling refreshed.

**8. Reflect and Set Goals:**
Take a moment to reflect on the past week and set goals for the upcoming one. This practice can provide clarity and motivation, helping you to approach the new week with a positive mindset.

In conclusion, weekends offer a valuable opportunity to relax, recharge, and enjoy life beyond work. By incorporating some of these suggestions and ideas, you can ensure that your weekend is both enjoyable and fulfilling. Here’s wishing you a wonderful and enjoyable weekend ahead!
