Olivia Muenter's Outfit Guide for the Week

Recently, bestselling writer Olivia Muenter was informed that she often idealizes life. “That’s just my inclination,” she shared with me. “Life can undoubtedly be challenging and chaotic, yet I always seek that beauty.” Olivia connected with me from her Hudson Valley residence, following the launch of her much-anticipated new book, Little One. Below, she reveals a film that shaped her style, jeans she’s donned countless times, and a necklace etched with a heartfelt reminder…

Above: Top: DISSH. Jeans: Eloquii. Flats: Loeffler Randall.

“Fashion tailored for plus sizes can often be utterly disappointing. However, when I discovered these cuffed Eloquii jeans, I thought, These are undeniably cool. I’ve now worn them extensively. And Loeffler Randall stands as my ultimate shoe brand ever. For significant life events, I indulge myself with a pair. My wedding shoes were sourced from there, as were the shoes I sported to the inaugural big event for my first novel.”

Button-down: thrifted, similar. Jeans: “old ASOS,” similar. Socks: similar. Slippers: L.L. Bean.

“In my youth, I was consistently a tad larger and taller than my peers. I adored fashion, yet felt as though I lacked the physique to be considered stylish. Finding individuals on social media who bore some resemblance to me was incredibly validating. My consistent follows include Kristina Zias, Rae Ann Langas, Abisola Omole, Callie Thorpe, and Abby Bible.”

“When I go thrifting, I start with the men’s section. That’s where I discovered this flannel, which is impeccably flawless. I could endlessly purchase oversized button-downs. They are the epitome of foundational wardrobe pieces.”

Sweater: Sézane. Trench: Gap. Pants: Nikki Chasin. Shoes: Converse. Sunglasses: Madewell.

“I always thought trenches appeared so stylish on other women, so I finally got my own. I refer to it as my Inspector Gadget coat. And I acquired these pants at Nikki Chasin, a nearby boutique in the Hudson Valley. I was ecstatic that they were not only in my size but also in-store. That’s a rarity in plus-size shopping!”

Heart necklace: Monica Vinader.

“When it comes to jewelry, I typically stick to simple hoops, my wedding rings, and a necklace my dad gifted me during high school. Occasionally, I’ll incorporate this heart locket from Monica Vinader. It’s engraved with ‘lovely as is,’ reminding me that I’m enough without change.”

Dress: “old Dôen,” similar. Sweater: J.Crew, no longer available, similar. Boots: Shoes of Prey, no longer available, similar. Scarf: “old ASOS,” similar. Wedding band: Bario Neal.

“During my teenage years, I watched the film Bright Star, which narrates the romance between poet John Keats and Fanny Brawne. I was captivated by the costumes, colors, and textures. Growing up in Florida, donning popped collars and Uggs — yet that movie helped me identify my true personal style.”

Overalls: Gap. Top: Damson Madder, no longer available, similar. Shoes: Converse.

“There’s no garment I’ve worn more than these overalls from Gap. I enjoy matching overalls with something more feminine, like a billowy top or this leopard-print one. My fashion style mirrors my home style: classic, yet somewhat eclectic.”

Appreciation for sharing, Olivia! Best wishes on your latest novel. Also, should we consider a feature on Olivia’s home tour???

P.S. Numerous more weeks of outfits, including a vintage stylist from England, and an Indiana mother of five, with an affinity for clowncore.
