Hourglass has unveiled a new matte lip product called the Phantom Blur Balm ($38 each) along with new shades for their Shape and Sculpt Lip Liners ($29 each). They provided the new items for review, and I believe there are several shades that are definitely worth exploring.
Phantom Blur Balm
I’m happy to share that the Phantom Blur Balms glide on smoothly and don’t accentuate lines for me. The colors did deepen a bit on my lips, but I find the tones of most shades to be smooth and perfect for daily wear. Although I’m not always fond of matte or velvet lip formulas, the Blur formula and shades are undeniably beautiful. As a gloss enthusiast, I still lean towards the Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balms for that rich glossy finish.

While they may lack the same volumizing plumping effect as the glossy version, the blurred matte finish somehow makes my lips appear fuller. The coverage is medium yet buildable. They have a light, almost whipped airiness to them that feels comfortable on the lips in balm form.
I applied these over the lip liners, which definitely prolong the wear since the pencils are exceptionally long-lasting.
Shape and Sculpt Lip Liner (New Shades)
When the Shape and Sculpt Lip Pencils debuted, I wasn’t impressed with the shades I selected (review here). My naturally darker lips typically make it difficult for most lip pencils to show up. Additionally, the shades I first selected leaned very warm, so I’m genuinely delighted to see a few more neutral options. These are exceptionally long-wearing on the lips.
