Hourglass has unveiled a fresh matte lip formulation known as the Phantom Blur Balm ($38 each) alongside new shades for their Shape and Sculpt Lip Liners ($29 each). They generously provided the new products for review, and I believe several shades are definitely worth exploring.
Phantom Blur Balm
I’m happy to share that the Phantom Blur Balms glide effortlessly on the lips and do not highlight lines for me. The colors did deepen slightly on my lips, but I think the tones for most shades are smooth and suitable for everyday use. Although I’m not typically a fan of matte or velvet lip products, the Blur formula and shades are undeniably stunning. Being a gloss enthusiast at heart, I still lean towards the Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balms for that rich glossy effect.

They don’t seem to have the same volumizing plumping attribute as the glossy version, yet for some reason, the blurred matte finish gives my lips a fuller appearance. The coverage is medium but can be layered. They provide a comfortable, weightless sensation on the lips, almost like a whipped airy texture but in balm form.
I applied these over the lip liners which certainly extend the wear time, as the pencils are quite long-lasting.
Shape and Sculpt Lip Liner (New Shades)
When the Shape and Sculpt Lip Pencils first launched, I wasn’t impressed with the shades I selected (review here). I have naturally darker pigmented lips, and most lip pencils fail to show up on me. Additionally, the shades I initially chose were all quite warm, so I’m delighted to see a few more neutral hues. These are extremely long-wear on the lips.
