So…what is the Monday Poll?
Great inquiry! It’s not, despite its title, an actual poll with click buttons. It’s simply a compilation of fairly random questions I’ve been posting on this blog every Monday morning for what feels like a million years (since 2007).
1. What’s your preferred punctuation mark?
I have a significant fondness for the semicolon; my heart also appreciates an em dash.
2. Are you as surprised as I am that it’s almost 2026?
Seriously, how did an entire decade go by since I welcomed Connor? Time is a wild ride, man.
3. What sounds are occurring right at this moment?
Children cheering (with joy), Marnie Mae barking and pursuing the previously mentioned joyful children, and the mechanical sounds of laser tag toys.
4. Did any of your pets interfere with or damage your holiday decorations?
Ugh, these two furballs opted to make this their year to cause chaos. Rosie chewed on the tips of some pine branches. Marnie Mae took it upon herself to annihilate any ornaments on the lower section of the tree.
5. A book that left an impact on you this year?
There were plenty, but one that particularly stands out is a graphic novel Connor lent me called “Smile” by Raina Telgemeier. I grew up in the Bay Area during the late ‘80s and early ‘90s, and the story resonates with that period of time.
