So…what exactly is the Monday Poll?
Great question! Despite its title, it isn’t truly a poll, complete with tiny clickable buttons. It’s merely a collection of somewhat random inquiries that I’ve been sharing on this blog every Monday morning for what feels like an eternity (since 2007).
1. What’s your top punctuation symbol?
I have a significant affection for the semicolon; I also have a fondness for an em dash.
2. Are you just as surprised as I am that it’s nearly 2026?
Honestly, how has an entire decade flown by since I welcomed Connor into the world? Time truly is a wild journey.
3. What noises do you perceive at this exact moment?
Kids yelling (out of joy), Marnie Mae barking and pursuing the aforementioned joyful kids, and the mechanical sounds of laser tag equipment.
4. Did any of your pets cause chaos or damage to your holiday decorations?
Ugh, these two furry companions chose this year to create havoc. Rosie chewed on the ends of some pine limbs. Marnie Mae took it upon herself to annihilate any and all ornaments located on the lower section of the tree.
5. A book that left a mark on you this year?
There were several, but one that particularly stands out is a graphic novel that Connor lent me titled “Smile” by Raina Telgemeier. Growing up in the Bay Area during the late ’80s and early ’90s, the story resonates with that era.
