Evaluation of Refy Water Bronzer and Blush Offerings

Refy has unveiled new cheek products featuring one of the most groundbreaking formulas I have encountered this year. I had the opportunity to preview this a month back, and I’m excited to finally share my thoughts!

They recently released their Water Bronzer ($30) and Water Blush ($24) in a cushion format, which I believe presents a completely fresh perspective on blush and bronzer compared to anything else in my collection. They also introduced their Duo Brush 2.0 for Liquid Blush and Bronzer ($26) alongside this launch.

Inspired by K-beauty cushion technology and manufactured in South Korea, these formulas come in a cushion compact that offers sheer yet buildable color with a fresh, skin-like finish. These are water-infused color cushions suspended in a sponge, making for easier application compared to a pump dispenser format.

I find the shades stunning. I hope they will broaden the shade range to include more blush hues eventually because the colors are all so beautiful.

Here’s a look at all the shades swatched:

Water Bronzer

Nowadays, it’s uncommon for a new bronzer formula to truly excite me. Many of you have requested bronzer recommendations over the years, and until recently, few have significantly impressed me. For quite a long time, I depended on my tried-and-true from Chanel (which I still adore, but unfortunately was discontinued). This year, however, several brands have introduced formulas that genuinely feel innovative.

I particularly enjoyed the recent bronzer launches from Dior and Westman Atelier. Both brought something distinctive to a category that often feels oversaturated. The Dior formula astounds me with its remarkable wear time, while the Westman Atelier bronzer boasts one of the best dry-downs I’ve experienced in a cream formula.

The new Refy Water Bronzer is another launch that has secured a position on that exclusive list. The formula feels fresh and unique compared to what’s currently available, and the finish it imparts on the skin is absolutely gorgeous.

  • Bay is a light warmer golden bronze
  • Cove is a cool neutral bronze
  • Sol is a reddish bronze
  • Palm is a deep bronze
  • Selene is the deepest bronze

I can wear the lightest three shades. My favorite is likely Cove, even though it leans more neutral-cool on me. I also really like the other two. Bay offers the perfect golden bronze, and Cove provides that slightly sunburnt bronzed radiance.

Water Blush

The Water Blush shades caught me off guard because the intensity of color seen in the compact translates to a much sheerer application on the cheeks. You can layer for increased pigment, but I’m really enjoying how they resemble watercolor for the cheeks.

  • Apricot is a light peach
  • Lychee is a vibrant, healthy pink
  • Acai is a perfect berry

I am pleasantly surprised by how easy these are to manage. The color blends seamlessly into the skin and can be layered from a subtle wash to something more defined and vibrant. The new Refy Duo Brush 02 is also fantastic and makes application effortless, although I believe you can use anything from your current collection to apply the products. I would certainly recommend using a clean brush to avoid contaminating the compact sponge with other colors.

Skin Base

I also wanted to mention the Refy Skin Base ($40). Many of you were quite excited about this as it’s a gel skin tint. I tried the shade 170N and have it in action here. It’s a very sheer, natural-looking skin tint. There is noticeable coverage, but it provides a barely-there kind of finish. It’s gel-like, but has a balmy feel to me. It feels thicker compared to other skin tints like those from Lisa Eldridge or Summer Fridays. This one blends best with a sponge for me. Given its natural coverage, you will likely also need some concealer, and if you have combination skin or reside in a warm, humid area, you will definitely need to set it with a powder.

I rate it an 8.5 out of 10 stars. It’s an excellent product for a skin tint, but I prefer something with a bit more coverage, such as the It Cosmetics CC+ Nude Glow or even the Hourglass Veil Hydrating Skin Tint.

You can find the new Refy launches at Sephora and also at Refy Beauty.

**Review of Refy Water Bronzer and Blush Products**

In the ever-shifting realm of beauty, Refy has established a unique position with its innovative and minimalist take on makeup. Among its notable offerings are the Water Bronzer and Blush products, which have attracted attention for their distinct formulations and user-friendly design. This review explores the details of these products, assessing their performance, application, and overall value.

**Refy Water Bronzer**

The Refy Water Bronzer presents a refreshing alternative to traditional bronzing products. Its water-based formula is crafted to provide a natural, sun-kissed radiance without the heaviness typically associated with cream or powder bronzers. The product is packaged in a sleek, minimalist tube that is both travel-friendly and user-friendly.

*Application and Texture:* The Water Bronzer glides smoothly onto the skin, offering sheer, buildable coverage that can be tailored to achieve the desired intensity. Its lightweight texture ensures seamless blending, leaving no harsh lines or streaks. The water-based formula feels cool upon application, making it ideal for warmer climates or for those who desire a lighter feel on the skin.

*Performance:* A standout feature of the Water Bronzer is its durability. Despite its lightweight composition, it remains intact throughout the day without fading or transferring. The bronzer is available in a range of shades suitable for various skin tones, guaranteeing a natural finish for all.

*Pros and Cons:* The primary advantage of the Refy Water Bronzer lies in its ease of use and natural finish. However, those seeking a more dramatic contour may find the sheer coverage less suitable. Additionally, the water-based formula might not be the best fit for very oily skin types, as it could potentially slide off without an adequate setting product.

**Refy Water Blush**

Complementing the Water Bronzer is the Refy Water Blush, which shares the same innovative water-based formula. This product seeks to deliver a fresh, dewy flush of color that mimics a naturally radiant glow.

*Application and Texture:* Like the bronzer, the Water Blush is incredibly simple to apply. It can be dabbed onto the cheeks with fingers or a brush, blending effortlessly into the skin. The formula is lightweight and non-sticky, ensuring comfortable wear throughout the day.

*Performance:* The Water Blush provides a sheer wash of color that can be layered for increased intensity. It is available in a variety of shades, ranging from soft pinks to deeper berry tones, catering to different tastes and skin tones. The blush retains its vibrancy over several hours, although a touch-up may be necessary for prolonged wear.

*Pros and Cons:* The Water Blush is lauded for its natural finish and ease of application. However, akin to the bronzer, it may not be the best option for those with oily skin unless set with powder. Furthermore, the sheer quality of the product might not meet the desires of those seeking a more pronounced blush effect.

**Overall Verdict**

Refy’s Water Bronzer and Blush products are excellent options for those pursuing a natural, effortless makeup look. Their water-based formulas provide a lightweight and refreshing alternative to traditional products, making them especially appealing for daily wear and for those with drier skin types. While they may not meet every makeup preference, their innovative approach and quality performance make them worthy additions to any beauty regimen.
